The Authentic Art of Nile Sailing

The Ancient Dahabiya Tradition

Nuba Nile redefines river exploration with an authentic two-masted wooden Dahabiya. Designed for those who seek tranquility, historical depth, and bespoke hospitality away from crowded cruise vessels.

Historical Lineage

The Noble Art of the Golden One

Originating in the 19th-century golden age of Egyptian travel, the Dahabiya (literally "the golden one") was the vessel of choice for royalty, writers, and aristocrats. With no noisy diesel engines during sailing, we harness the gentle desert breeze to glide along timeless shores, mooring at secluded riverbanks inaccessible to commercial ships.

Unlike modern mass tourism vessels that rush between ports on rigid schedules, a Dahabiya respects the natural cadence of the river. We drop anchor at undisturbed islands, dine under the constellation-lit Egyptian night, and explore ancient temples at the golden hours of dawn and dusk.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about preparing for your luxury Dahabiya sailing.

What distinguishes a Dahabiya from a standard Nile cruise ship?

A Dahabiya is an authentic, twin-masted wooden sailing vessel accommodating only 12 to 14 guests. Unlike large cruise vessels carrying 150+ passengers, Dahabiyas sail in serene silence, have no engine noise or vibration during sailing, and can moor at remote islands and secluded temple banks that large ships cannot reach.

What is included in the voyage package?

All voyages include full-board gourmet dining prepared by our private onboard chef, all tea/coffee/water refreshments, certified private Egyptologist guided tours, temple entrance tickets, and private luxury transfers between Luxor/Aswan and the boat.

Are Dahabiyas suitable for private charter?

Yes. Nuba Nile Dahabiya is available for private exclusive charters for families, friends, and special celebrations. Contact our concierge to customize tailored sailing dates and culinary programs.

Is Wi-Fi and air conditioning available onboard?

Yes. Every cabin and suite features individual, whisper-quiet climate control and satellite Wi-Fi connection throughout the vessel.
