The Living Legacy of El Kab

Before Luxor rose to imperial prominence, El Kab was the primary cult center of Nekhbet, the vulture goddess and protector of Upper Egypt. The site contains massive mudbrick fortifications dating back to the Middle Kingdom and cliffside tombs featuring detailed biographical inscriptions of military expeditions against the Hyksos.
